Winter is here and with it comes conditions which can affect our skin’s health. Here at Organic Formulations, we want you to know that you don’t have to accept irritated skin this winter. Here are some simple practices and natural, organic products which can help.
How is skin affected in winter?
Dry winds, cold temperatures and sun exposure sap the skin of moisture, resulting in;
- Dryness and flaking
- Dull appearance
- Chapping and cracking, especially of the lips
- Sunburn of already sensitive skin
Simple practices to protect your skin
Try to protect your skin as much as possible from the elements by wearing hats, gloves and scarves. Even if you don’t feel the cold intensely your skin can still be affected, so cover up in lightweight, breathable fabrics.
Although it can be tempting to step into a steaming hot shower at this time of year, it’s best to avoid doing so because heat can strip oils and moisture from your skin. Try taking lukewarm showers and baths instead.
Remember to hydrate
It’s vital to hydrate from the inside out. Ensure you are drinking your daily recommended intake of 2L of water per day. If you struggle to drink cold water in winter, drink lukewarm water with lemon which is more easily absorbed by the body than cold water.
Facial skin care tips
Because it is exposed, your face will be one of the first places to feel affected by the conditions of winter. Try these tips for nourishing the skin, naturally:
· Protect your skin from the sun and nourish with moisture at the same time with the dual-purpose Emma Organics Distinctive Skin Care Sun Protect Hydration. (Yes, sun protection is still extremely important in winter)
· Treat chapped lips with Emma Organics Distinctive Skin Care Organic Lip Rescue to restore moisture and skin health. Continue to use as a protectant throughout winter.
Hand & body skin care tips
Hands and other areas of the body often show significant signs of suffering under winter chill. Use Organic Selections Hand and Body Moisturising Lotion for powerful skin hydration with essential oils and Australian bush extracts. The essential oils are natural moisturisers, rejuvenating skin cells with the added benefits of antiseptic and antibacterial properties.
Don’t suffer through this winter in silence. Give your skin the tender loving care it needs.
